Stargazing

Originally created as an entry for Illustration Friday, the week's creative theme was "Stargazing". The ethereal girl's stylized features were inspired by Geisha prints, while the blue background was created in photoshop to mimic a gouache technique. The aim was to find a lovely harmony between the two.

Some cages, while in it's essence is restrictive and confining, might also be a source for security and even welcome comfort, provided it's with the right company.

Artificial

Originally created as an entry for Illustration Friday, the week's creative theme was "Artificial".

The serious subject matter of artificial cloning was digitally drawn with a youth-oriented cartoon flair, using cheerful farm yard colors in what would appear to be as innocent, playful and disarming a scene as the scientists who play god would want you to believe.

Breakfast

Client: Personal

Originally created as an entry for Illustration Friday, the week's creative theme was "Breakfast".

Only two of the creatures appear blissfully unaware of the first full morning meal of the day that is about to take place. As for the other two, one confidently breaks the plane, towering overhead as it waits for the perfect time to take action while the other appears to recoil, unable to affect the outcome. Such is often the way of the world, it seems.

The background was a texture of a floral print table cloth that was grayscaled, posterized and layered. It served as the foliaged backdrop while the digitally drawn flora finished the frame. The overall simplified, streamlined, then outlined treatment of the remaining elements create a paper crafted effect that looks almost like a page from a storybook. It compliments the background with an overall cohesive feeling of texture and dimensional depth.
